Network Consultant I (UCP IV)

Instructional & Classroom Design of the University of Connecticut’s Institute of Teaching and Learning, is seeking a Network Consultant I to join a dynamic, service-oriented professional staff serving the University’s academic community. The successful applicant must be knowledgeable in and be able to consult, prepare documentation and instruct a variety of users regarding voice, data, video and voice/video-teleconferencing (VTC) network hardware and software. Candidate must be able to analyze and diagnose voice, data, video and VTC network problems as well as work with complex associated network systems integration issues. Successful candidate will work closely with administration, faculty, AV technical staff and students across all campuses statewide.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience; two to five year's voice, data, video and VTC network related experience, which includes working directly with large-scale network systems; demonstrated ability to work well with people, to handle technical problems, to work well under stress and to follow complex plans and strategies; good communication and writing skills; ability to multitask; and strong computer skills.
Preferred qualifications include basic understanding of IP video and audio transmission standards; one to two years experience supporting H.323 video conference control systems; an understanding of electronics as it relates to Audio/Video systems. Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable.
This is a one-year, end-date position subject to annual renewals. Salary: $37,903
