Preston Britner, Ph.D


Associate Professor, School of Family Studies

Dr. Britner recieved his B.S. from the University of Miami and both his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1997.

Dr. Britner's teaching career emphasizes the characteristics of an excellent instructor-- concern and extraordinary skill in engaging and relating to his student, enthusiasm about his research, and a well thoughtout view of how teaching and learning fit together. His impressive ability to have high standards combined with a sense of fun in the classroom stays with his students long after they graduate. He holds himself to the same high standards as his students as evident in his research skills, publication records, and successful grant applications. Dr. Britner's teaching and mentoring, and his great love of his craft, has a powerful and personal impact on those around him. He inspires both teachers and students to pass along his consistently demonstrated passion for teaching and learning, as well as respect for the individual.
